Northern Minnesota has more forests than the southern portions of the state. Northwestern Minnesota is primarily flat agricultural land where lots of sugar beets are grown. The central part of the northern portion of the state is largely woodlands, including Itasca State Park and Bemidji. The eastern portion of northern Minnesota includes the Hibbing iron range and extends to Lake Superior, including Duluth.

        Central Minnesota extends from Fargo/North Dakota along both sides of the I-94 Corridor through the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul to the nearby Wisconsin border. The central portion of the state is largely small to moderate sized towns, lakes and farmland until you get to the metro Twin Cities area.

            Southern Minnesota has a strong farming influence across the entire area. Rochester is of course known for the Mayo Clinic. There are scenic bluffs, caves, meandering biking paths and lots more to explore.
